Youth Development Intern
The position of Youth Development Intern supports Lifeline’s after school program, Club Crown Heights at La Casita. Club Crown Heights at La Casita is set up as an early intervention program for at-risk youth and provide services for (on average) 60 children ages 6-12 on a daily basis. The site allows for a safe space for children to go to when released from school.
Specific Activities
• Observe and assist staff with daily program activities with a focus on learning relevant skills to the field
• Assist in the implementation of the cultural integration process of volunteers in the Club Crown Heights at La Casita community, including orientation and training
• Assist in the implementation of transition into 1 to 1 tutoring
• Help collect and organize tutoring, educational, and program resources to assist volunteers and staff
• Contribute to meaningful change in our organization and the lives of the clients we serve
• Pursue individual growth and have unique experiences working within the structure of NC Lifeline

• Pursue individual growth and have unique experiences working within the structure of NC Lifeline
• At least three years of study at an institution of higher education
• Upper-level college coursework in human or child development, sociology or psychology, or non-profit management
• At least one year of youth-related experience prior to start date, volunteer or paid, such as:
Physical Demands/Work Environment• Upper-level college coursework in human or child development, sociology or psychology, or non-profit management
• At least one year of youth-related experience prior to start date, volunteer or paid, such as:
o Tutoring, teaching, or providing instructional support
o Working in an after-school program or similar group childcare setting
o Working in an after-school program or similar group childcare setting
TB Test, Drug Screening, and Live Scan Background Check
Work Schedule• Minimum commitment of one full semester (> 12 weeks) required
• La Casita’s operating hours are: 3:00pm – 6:00pm Monday–Friday; 12:30pm–5:00pm Wednesday
• Must be available at least one weekday afternoon in those hours
• Schedule will be ~ 6 or 8 hours a week, supervision available in additional hours and locations
